While taking Interaction Design at Kent State University, I was assigned to complete a group project with Amanda Calvin, Gabe Schut, and Ruby Kelly based on subcultures and creating a distinct environment for a specific user group. Our team was asked to choose an exercise in Sweden, and after researching, we discovered Bandy, an ice hockey game with a large fan base.
In order to directly target this fan base and make the experience of attending a Bandy game more exciting, we decided to create an application for the iPhone. The app is only available for fans at a live Bandy game, and based on a reward system, it allows the user to see an “on the ice” experience by watching the sport through the player’s helmet camera. This therefore creates a community specifically for Bandy, bringing the fans closer together.
